Buckeye Grove Farm Cheese welcomes you
ABOUT US        ~        WELCOME!

Farmstead: Land occupied by a farmer on which he stables or keeps his own milking animals and produces or overseas cheese or dairy products
under Ohio Dept. of Agriculture license, in a facility for that purpose, and on the same land where the animals and milk are kept and produced, respectively.

We gladly share information about ourselves and our farm cheese house.

All of our aged cheese is produced using only the Grade A hormone free unpasteurized milk from our registered Jersey cows right in our family farms old-world style cheese house. We are licensed by state of Ohio and both the herd and cheese making facility are inspected regularly.

Five generations ago, in 1867, great-great grandfather Scheiderer began dairying and since then the herd has developed into today's registered purebred Jersey herd. Every animal in our closed herd is bred and raised on the beautiful grass covered hills in Monroe County, Ohio. Each cow has her own birth to death health record and is identified not only with an id number but a family name that may trace back many generations... names like Edna, Connie, Molly, or Fontaine.
Our families have always advanced the logic of Green Earth methods in sustainable agriculture. Although changes occur daily it is always with the insight that healthy, happy cows make strong family farm dairies. The cows enjoy pulsing green pasture grass and sunshine from spring through fall medicine. In cold, rainy winter they enjoy a comfort stall barn and are fed natural grass hay with a well balanced grain (never any hormones or B.S.T.!). This makes rich Jersey milk that has better nutritional levels. You will taste subtle differences in cheeses made during different seasons.

Wow, what a view from the picnic area right beside the cheese house!

Please remember that we are a SMALL FAMILY FARM. Absolutely no smoking, alcohol, pets or unsupervised children.

If you wish to visit the farm and see cheese being made, please call ahead for reservations.

We are open Saturdays only from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Don't forget your camera as there is lots of wildlife and breathtaking scenery in the area.

Our area is at the top of the US Scenic Roads list and only 20 minutes from the Wayne National Forest and Ohio River.
